Raymond R. Shea 80, of Indianapolispassed away February 11, 2016. He was born September 27, 1935 to the lateEdward P. and Eva (Stolberg) Shea. Wife, Susie Shea and brother, Edward Sheapreceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Shea) Rohr andson-in-law, Todd.

Ray graduated from St. Peter’sCollege with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing. He did so by attendingcollege at night and working a full time job in the day so that he couldprovide for Susie and Kathleen. Ray worked at Texaco as a TransportationManager until his retirement. After his retirement he held several part-time jobsincluding sales with Hill’s condominiums & Lazarus department store and asa bank teller with the State Bank of Lizton.

He was a “people person” with asmile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, a quick wit and a dry sense of humorwhich was sometimes misunderstood. He was a generous selfless person whodonated to the Lord’s Pantry at St Monica’s along with several otherorganizations even though financially he qualified to receive food from thepantry. He selflessly cared for Susie during the last years of her life and wasalways putting others before himself.

He was proud to have served in theUnited States Marine Corp Reserve, where he was a sharpshooter. Ray was amember of St. Monica Catholic Church, and he also attended daily mass at LittleSisters of the Poor. Ray was proud to have been born in New Jersey. He andSusie enjoyed living in Texas and Florida, but they moved to Indianapolis to beclose to Kathleen. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading and sports,especially his New York Jets.

Friends may gather on Friday,February 19, 2016 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church (inthe gym due to the fire) 6131 N. Michigan Rd, with a Memorial Mass at 10:30a.m. Ray’s ashes will be placed in a niche (or as Ray liked to call it: his“room with a view”) at the Great Hall Chapel (indoors) of Washington Park NorthCemetery. After this, a Mercymeal will be provided at St Monica’s. Hopefully people will come back to StMonica’s or stay there after the mass if they don’t want to go to the cemeteryso that they can share food and memories about Ray with Kathi and Todd.
