Raymond Kelso, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 12, 2020. Raymond was born to Lawrence and Hazel Kelso in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 28, 1933 and grew up in Mars Hill.
During World War II, Raymond was a tank maintenance mechanic with the United States Army. He retired in 1988 with 30 year of service at GM Truck and Bus, where he worked in skilled trades. Raymond enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, old western movies, and his grandkids.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Gracie Kelso; children, Tanna Gentry, Raymond Kelso Jr., Dale Kelso, Keith Kelso, Russell Hollen, Melvin (Teresa) Hollen, Debra (Kenny) Kinnett, and Kim Thompson; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil “Bud”, Paul, Tom, and Jim; sisters, Helen, Betty, and Bertha; step son, Donald Hollen; granddaughter, Gina Doody; and great grandson, Grayson Thompson.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 4 – 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue. A service will be held the following day at 2 pm. Raymond will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
