Raymond A. Pierce

Raymond A. Pierce, 71 of Indianapolis, passed away on September 23, 2017. He was born on June 21, 1946 in Owensville, KY to the late Robert and Artie Pierce.

Raymond was the youngest of 16 children. He followed his brothers to Indianapolis to pursue work in the construction industry and retired in 2008.

Raymond was preceded in passing by his parents Robert and Artie Pierce, daughter, Rhonda Carol Pierce, many other friends, sisters and brothers and most recently his brother Bennie Pierce.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn “Sue” (Brooks) Pierce; his children,Connie Didion (Robert), Susan Pierce and Amanda Pierce. His grandchildren: Brandon Watson, Savannah Watson, Madison Watson, Emily Self and great granddaughter Aryanna Watson. Brother Paul Pierce (Belinda), Sisters: Thelma Curtis and Marie Beall (Phil).

To know him was to love him, he never met a stranger. He always put everyone else's needs before his own. He loved being outside, he loved his tractor and gardening. He loved his occasional trips to the casino but mostly he loved his family and having cookouts in the summer and wienie roasts in the fall.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road. The family will be having a private service at a later date.
