Ramona Mae Tester

Ramona Mae Tester, 72, passed away on May 30, 2023.

She was born on July 10, 1950, in Henderson, Kentucky, to Clarence and Virgie Morris.

Ramona spent her early childhood in Kentucky and left with her family for Indianapolis, Indiana in 1958. Ramona’s family lived in many neighborhoods in Indianapolis eventually settling on the near southside. She received her high school diploma from Emmerich Manual High School in June 1968. Ramona attended the Church of God of Prophecy Church on Hoyt Avenue in Indianapolis where she met Darrell L. Tester. Darrell and Ramona were married at the Hoyt Ave. church on March 20th, 1971.

Ramona and Darrell welcomed Danielle on March 21st, 1972, as their child. Four years later, on March 2nd, 1976, Evan joined the family. The small family moved to the southwest side of Indianapolis in 1980. On June 19th, 1982, Adam joined the family. Ramona and her family lived on the southwest side until 1993 when the family moved to the south side.

Throughout Ramona’s and her family’s time in Indianapolis, they were regular attendees of Hoyt Ave. church. They were joined at church by family members from both Darrell’s and Ramona’s sides of the family. Ramona’s family participated in homecomings, Christmas plays, and all manner of church gatherings.

She is survived by her loving husband, Darrell, her children Danielle Blackburn, Evan Tester, and Adam Tester, her siblings Donnie Morris, Dorothy Cutteridge, and Marilyn Morris, and her grandchildren Jourdan Blackburn, and Lincoln Tester.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Anna Charlene Kimbal.

Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service.
