Rafford Loyd Martin

Rafford Loyd “Ray” Martin 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born September 28, 1932, in Double Springs, Alabama to the late Jasper and Fannie (Bailey) Martin. Ray, as he was affectionately known to his family, worked for Mayflower Moving and Storage as a mechanic for over 36 years before retiring. He was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, especially his tomatoes and peaches from his peach trees, racing cars, tinkering, and spending time with his loving family. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rossie Etta “Ett” (Stewart) Martin, whom he wed on March 24, 1956. He is also survived by his children, Rebecca “Becky” (Steve) Giles, Ricky Ray Martin, Roger Lloyd (Kim) Martin, his grandchildren, Rachel, Pamela, Melissa, Valerie, Kristen, Nici, Reid, Adam, and his great grandchildren, Etta and Addison. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his 8 siblings. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, 11:00am-1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00pm. Pastor Brandon Adkisson will be officiating the service. Ray will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana following his funeral service.
