Phyllis Elaine Hess

Phyllis Elaine Hess, 83, passed away surrounded by her family on March 7, 2023.

She was born on September 14, 1939, to George Andrew and Kittie Capitola Morefield.

Phyllis was a creative, one-of-a-kind woman who had many talents. She excelled in sewing, knitting, and especially making clothing. She was even a costumer at several Community Theaters and her daughters remember her making many of their outfits throughout their life.

Not only did she adore sewing, but she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, gameshows, gardening, and canning. A little-known fact about Phyllis was that she was a very accomplished musician. Playing the accordion brought her great joy for many years. But an even greater joy in her life was her family. Her grandchildren were precious to her and so was her rescued and adopted fur family.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Cathy (Ken) and Penny; her adoring grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelly, Chelsea (Brad), and Angela; her great grandbabies, Skylar and Paislee; and her 3 half brothers from Ohio.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
