Phyllis E. Fleck, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018. Phyllis graduated from Shortridge High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She later worked as a bookkeeper, first at Ed Schock’s Toys and then Twin Lakes Apartments, retiring at age 76.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women’s Association, served as a deacon, and played a key role in the expansion of the library. She subsequently joined North United Methodist Church.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 2 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where a funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Arthur A. Fleck. She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Janet M. Fleck (husband, Andrew S. Peirce), Dr. Linda L. Fleck (husband, Michael A. Cannizzo), and Karin Roache (husband, Michael S.); and her brother, Bryan Auer (wife, Janet). She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and David Shumate, as well as her parents, Robert C. and Dessie H. Auer.
