Philip Charles Jackson

February 1, 1943 — May 11, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Philip (Phil) C. Jackson, 78, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He passed peacefully at IU Health in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Phil was born in Camden, NJ  in 1943 to Philip and Elizabeth Jackson. He was the oldest of their three children: Philip, William (Bill) and Beth. As a child he was known for his kind character and desire to teach and preach. After high school, he attended Moody Bible Institute where he met his wife-to-be, Linda Saters. Their wedding was held at the Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis, IN on April 4, 1963.  After graduation Phil and Linda served in small town churches and were blessed with three children, Philip, Debra, and Cindy. Phil pastored, taught, and cared for thousands of people during his 51 years in ministry. Throughout the years Phil pastored continuously even while taking full time jobs as needed to support his family.

Phil was an avid learner who missed no opportunity to purchase and share books, videos, music, and subscriptions that taught the richness of the Scripture and fed his love for God and the Church. Phil, along with Linda, led their family in the love of the Lord and taught their children and grandchildren to faithfully love God and others. Linda Jackson passed on February 23, 2004 after a long fight with health complications. During that time there was none more faithful than her loving husband who spent every day with her. Throughout his life, Phil was known for his gentleness, his love for each individual he met, and deep desire to study and teach the Scripture well.

Phil is survived by Philip Jackson and his wife Debra, Debra Strietelmeier and her husband, Jim, and Cindy Scott and her husband Steve, seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his brother William Jackson, and sister Beth Rupp and husband Tom.

As you think of Phil, we hope that you will join us in praising God for a life well lived. May we be encouraged in our mourning by the joy that Phil is with his Savior. Phil no longer suffers through the difficulty and pain that he bore so graciously. May our hope be Phil’s, now realized, hope: Christ saves, brings peace and everlasting joy.

“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelations 21:3b – 4
