Peter G. Tamulonis
67, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2017 in Panama City, Florida. Born on January 3, 1950 to Peter A. and Claire Tamulonis, he grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire, graduating in 1968 as valedictorian of Bishop Guertin High School. He attended Butler University, graduating summa cum laude with degrees in Political Science and Speech, and was a major contributor to its highly successful debate team. Peter’s analytical and speaking skills led naturally to a career in law. After graduating with honors from Vanderbilt University School of Law, he returned to Indianapolis to spend his entire professional career with Kightlinger & Gray, LLP. He practiced primarily in administrative, business, and corporate law and in appellate representation. He retired as a senior partner in 2012.
Peter enjoyed travel, visiting casinos, and playing bridge, but the heart and soul of his life was his family. His children lovingly survived and thrived on the spirited discourse that characterized nightly family dinners. He took far more pride in their activities and achievements than in his own considerable professional success. Late in 2016, Peter move to Panama City Beach, Florida, fulfilling a lifelong dream of living with a daily view of the ocean. He had hoped to build a new set of memories in his Gulf Coast home, but a series of health setbacks culminated in his untimely death.
Peter was preceded in death by his mother and his infant son, Matthew. He is survived by his father, Peter A. Tamulonis; son Peter J. (Kara) Tamulonis and granddaughters Vivian and Georgia of Carmel, IN; daughter Deborah Lancaster (Joel) of Sydney, Australia; daughter Jessica Tamulonis of Milwaukee, WI; and son Nathan of St. Petersburg, FL; as well as Rhonda Tamulonis of Carmel, IN, mother of their children, to whom he had been married for 39 years. Additional survivors include three brothers Paul, David, and Joseph Tamulonis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM in the Wake Chapel at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN 46033, followed by funeral mass in the Day Chapel at 1:00 PM.
