Pauline F. Godsey, 86 of Indianapolis, passed away, on Thursday February 11, 2021 at Community East Hospital. She was born on January 30, 1935 in Yamacraw, KY to the late Roy L. and Effie B. Meadows. Pauline was united in marriage to James E. Godsey December 29, 1952 in Jellico, TN where they eloped and shared 61 wonderful years together.
Pauline had a wonderful way of making you feel important, smart, and capable. Pauline enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, and crocheting. She truly loved her family and her family truly loved her. She was kind, generous, soft spoken, and always gentle. Throughout her life she continuously helped others financially. She will be remembered for the hundreds of beautiful quilts she created and gifted. Her employment history includes Mechanic Laundry, Shoppers Fair in Irvington Plaza, Ayr-Way, and Target Department Store. Pauline retired in 1995 after 25 years from Target located on the Far East Side as a Retail Sales Associate. Pauline was a member of the Mount Calvary Evangelistic Center in Indianapolis since 1995.
Pauline is survived by her children, Judy A. (Dave) Maschino, and Dennis J. (Lynn “Shellie”) Godsey; grandchildren, Daniel, Sam, and Savannah Waggoner; three great grandchildren (Corbin Hendrickson, Aaliyah Jones, and Trinity Noel); brother, Randall R. Meadows; and sisters, Linda Ridener, and Kathy Crabtree. She is preceded in passing by her husband of 61 years, James E. Godsey; sister, Crystal; and granddaughter Elizabeth “Libby.” She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by all.
Friends and family are invited to gather beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park (9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, where a funeral service will begin at 1:45 pm. Pauline will be forever missed and will live on in the hearts and stories of family and friends.
