Paula Marie Jones was born on May 5, 1945 in Lansing Michigan. She died on Sunday March 15,2020 at the age of 74 yrs., old. Paula was the oldest daughter of three girls born to Elizabeth Haggai and Paul Bryant. In 1974, she married Charles W. Jones who preceded her in death after 45 yrs., of marriage.
She graduated in 1963 from Shortridge high school. Paula sang in the Shortridge acappella choir and could have pursued a career in singing if she chose to do so as her beautiful voice was noted by many who encouraged her to make it a goal in life. However, when Paula was 28 years old, she was introduced by her sisters to a life of servitude to the only true god Jehovah whom she had come to know and love. She devoted many years in the full-time evangelizing work, aiding many others to come to know the god she loved so much. This was her life’s work until a debilitating disease limited her in this life- saving work that brought her much joy! However, she continued to do as much as she could with her illness. She struggled with this illness for 43 yrs.
Her strength and valor were noted by many who knew her, even her doctors often commented on her strong will to not let this disease get her down. She was always a beautiful person, not only on the outside, but inside as well. Paula was a very giving, selfless person who always thought about others first. She was known by many to give you the clothes off her back if someone like what she was wearing. Everyone always commented on how she always had a smile on her face and laughter in her heart whenever visited by them. She is not suffering anymore but resting peaceably.
Paula was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Watkins and survived by sister Audrey Jackson, half-sisters Beverly Collins and Denise Bryant, half-brother James Whitfield (Cathy)stepdaughters Sharon Anderson, Gina Jones, and stepson Carl Jones. Nieces Kari Jackson and Cheri Fitzgerald (Darrin) Nephews Frank and Gerald Dycus Joe Jackson who also preceded her in death,
along with many great nieces and nephews to cherish her memories. She will be truly missed by her family and so many friends.
A poem by David harkins
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
.
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind,be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
