Pat Clancy 79, of Indianapolis passed away on November 13, 2018. He was born on December 26, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Francis J. and Madge Gallamore Clancy.
He grew up on the south side of Indianapolis, attending Manual High School. After graduation he attended Franklin College, leaving to enlist in the U.S Marine Corps.
Pat was well known in the retail business community, serving as President of the Shane Diamond Company. After retirement from the diamond business he opened Clancy Furniture Brokers and presently worked together with his partner Micki Mayer. Pat’s work ethic, integrity and honesty was well known in both professions, and his famous tag line “You have a friend in the diamond business.”
Pat was a former member of Wolf Run Golf Club, Hillcrest Country Club (#187), Young President Organization (Y.P.O.), Diamond Exchange, American Legion Post #155, Agra, and served on the St. Mary’s Child Center Board of Directors for many years.
He traveled the world purchasing diamonds and playing golf. His favorite trip was taking his mother to the holy lands.
Pat had a variety of passions, including basketball, football, golf and gin rummy. He played basketball and football in High School, then football at Franklin College. He went on to learn the game of golf spending over half his life on the fairways, winning many tournaments. Early athletic success came as a golden glove boxer at the age of 14, winning his division. On Saturday November 11th 2018 Pat played his final game of gin rummy with his buddies.
Pat is survived by his beloved significant, Micki Mayer, her children Chip Schilling, Adam Mayer, Benjamin Mayer and Reagan Mayer and grandchildren (who called Pat “Pop Pop”). His brother Jerry (Julie) Clancy, Aunt Santina Gallamore, nephews Brian Simpson, Chris Williams, Jason Clancy and nieces (“baby”)Karen Boy, Kathleen Gravelle, Colleen Clancy and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Geraldine Foster.
Pat will be remembered by all as a generous, kind soul, and a good guy, whom you were fortunate to know. Everybody loved Pat. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. As Pat would say, “Always remember to deal and never be without a flashlight.”
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan Speedway, Monday November 19th, 4-7 p.m. Funeral Services immediately following at 7 p.m.
