The journey of life has ended for our beloved husband and father, Paul Woodward, Jr., age 86 of Carmel and Venice Florida. Mr. Woodward passed away in Carmel on July 2, 2020.
He was the eldest of eight children born to the late Paul Woodward, Sr. and Garnett Rounds Woodward on August 1, 1933 in Indianapolis.
He was married to the former Helen (Jody) for 57 yrs, but the love of his life was his children: Paul III Woodward deceased, Robert Woodward deceased. Bryan (Kim) Woodward, Big Bear, CA. and Yvette Ward (Brad Lamie), Noblesville, IN.
Mr. Woodward was retired from the Indianapolis Fire Department. In 1962 he received the Robinson-Ragsdale Award from the American Legion Post for meritorious service when rescuing two men trapped in a building. He was a Yellow Shirt at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for over fifty years. He was also a tool and die maker, retired from Mallory Controls.
He was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church, Carmel, IN. Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Venice, FL. Previous member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Elders, Board of Deacons, Ushering Team and Call Committee.
He was a member of the International Associations of Fire Fighters, Local #416 Retired Fighters Club, Scottish Rite, and Brookside Masonic Lodge. Indianapolis 500 Old Timers Club.
Private Memorial Services will be at a later date. Flanner Buchanan – Carmel officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Mayo Clinic, P.O. Box 450, Albert Lea, MN. 56007-9849
