Patrick Ramon Taylor, 84, of Indianapolis passed away June 13, 2018.
Patrick was born March 19, 1934 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late John Robert Taylor (Jean) and Velva Cash Taylor Corbin (John).
He graduated as the Valedictorian from Brownsburg High School. He served in the US Air Force in Madrid Spain. After honorable discharge from the US Air Force in 1959, Patrick enjoyed working for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Claims adjustor prior to completing his law degree. He received his Bachelor’s Degree at IU Bloomington majoring in business and his JD from IU Law School, Indianapolis. He started practicing law in 1967 and opened Taylor Law Office. He was a real estate broker for A&D Realty.
His memberships included the Scottish Rite, Free Masons, Eastside Optimist Club, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He had a beautiful Tenor voice. He enjoyed watching basketball (especially the Pacers with Joan), reading, being with his poodle girls Sugar and Spice, sharing puns, jokes, and quips and was well known for his quick wit. In his next profession he planned to be a comedian. He loved family gatherings –chewing the fat, eating ice cream and making his special microwaved in the husk corn on the cob.
He is survived by his partner Joan T. Whitaker; children Steven P. Taylor (Waylang), Laura L. Gunderman (Richard) and Scott C. Taylor (Juliet); step-children Catherine Gilliam (Jeff), Pete Whitaker, Michael Whitaker, Daniel Whitaker (Karen) and Julie Powell (the late Charles L.); grandchildren Keith, Sean, and Kathryn Taylor, Rebecca Cisneros (partner Mike Sinclair), Peter Gunderman, David Gunderman, John Gunderman, Bryce Patrick Taylor, Kylie Calaque Taylor, Toshua Lane, Shannon & Andre Tynes, Mikayla Whitaker, Elijah Whitaker, Robert Whitaker, Kevin Whitaker, Mark Whitaker, Stephen & Tara Whitaker, Andrea Whitaker, Christy & Brian Krause, and the late Charlie C. Powell; and great-grandchildren Penelope Cisneros, Sterling Sinclair, Joseph Lane, Cadence Lane, Ace Lane, Mariah Tynes, Jayda Tynes, Londyn Tynes, Jaydon Whitaker, Kiera Whitaker, Chloe Whitaker, Clint Whitaker, and Indianna Rose Krause. He also leaves behind his brother Ronald Robert Taylor (Kay), step-brother John Edwin Corbin (Marilyn), and step-brother-in-law George Michael. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces, as well as many cherished lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-brother Charles Corbin and step-sister Patty Ann Michael.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, June 19 at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis with a Gathering 2 PM until the time of service.
