Patrick J. Burley, 75, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on February 20, 2023. Pat’s positive attitude, strength, and dignity throughout his illness was a testament to the character he showed throughout his daily life.
Pat was born to Frank N. and Eleanor R. Burley on April 22, 1947 in Kokomo, Indiana. As a young boy, Pat’s family moved to Mexico City, Mexico where they spent five years before moving back to the Midwest. He attended high school in Robinson, Illinois, then attended the University of Illinois where he met Anne, his wife of 54 years, and together they raised two children, Jennifer and Michael.
Pat’s professional career was always focused on the financial services industry, and he truly found his passion as the President and CEO of Meridian Investment Advisors. His other passion was serving others, which started at a young age and included earning the Eagle Scout Award. Over the years, he found great fulfillment serving numerous not-for-profit organizations, most recently including Camptown, Brooke’s Place, Actors Theatre of Indiana, Music for All, and various committees at St. Luke’s UMC.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Jennifer (David) Hummel and Michael (Suzanne) Burley; grandchildren, Katie (Luca) Romeo, Joey (Kevin) O’Connell-Coomes, and Lauren Burley; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Will Romeo; and his sister Ann (Ron) Eckhart, as well as a large extended family and many cherished friends.
