Patricia “Patty” S. Allen, Age 53, passed away January 2, 2019 in her home in Carmel, Indiana. Patty was born August 21, 1965, in Florence, Colorado, the daughter of Leonard and Millie (Ham) Serviss. She married James D. Allen on November 29, 1986. Patty and Jim were married in Texas where they lived and raised their two children until moving to Indiana in 2014. While living in Texas, Patty worked in television advertising and in pension plan administration. Patty and her family lived in the small town of Palmer, Texas for many years where they enjoyed activities such as riding their ATV and caring for their many farm animals. Chickens were always Patty’s favorite to raise, but the family also had many goats and two miniature donkeys. Over the years Patty and her family had several dogs and cats, most recently two miniature dachshunds named Beau and Major who were by her side and cared for her just as deeply as she cared for them. Patty loved her family very much, and deeply loved being a grandma (Ma) to her 4 grandkids. Patty grew up in the small town of Florence, Colorado. She was an excellent student, and participated in choir and her school bands. Some of Patty’s fondest childhood memories were of camping with her family, especially fishing with her Dad. She told her husband Jim that one of the first things she wanted to do when she got to heaven was spend the day fishing with her dad as she had as a child. Patty loved the outdoors and loved keeping active, taking many family trips to places such as zoos and camping in the family camper, as well as taking cruises with Jim and their friends. In high school, Patty was on the drumline in the band, and continued her love of music through her life by playing piano and singing at church, and singing karaoke with Jim and their friends on the weekends. Patty’s love of music and musical talent was passed on to her daughter Jordan and son Josh. Jordan went on to play the drums all through school and Josh played the trumpet. Patty always had a love of arts and crafts. She and Jim ran a small business at local trade shows where they would display and sell Patty’s many works of art and crafts she had made. Patty is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Jim; two children, daughter Jordan Allen and her wife Krista Allen and son Josh Allen; her mother, Millie Serviss; brother, Robert Serviss; and two sisters, Nancy Phebus and Mary Adams; four grandchildren, Destini, Mikaylah, Jak, and Brody; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim and Jane Allen; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Julie Essington; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Patty was preceded in passing by her father, Leonard Serviss. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Transverse Myelitis Association. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
