Patricia B. Mack's Celebration of Life

Patricia A. Brown was born on October 21, 1932, near Frankfort, KY to Euberta and James (Jim) Brown and departed this life on March 5, 2024.

As a young child, she attended church with her parents where her mother was the organist. It was while sitting next to her mother on the organ bench that she developed her love for music. She started playing the piano at the age of 5. By age nine she was playing classical music in her music recitals. She continued her music lessons through elementary, high school, and college.

Patricia went on to earn her college degree at Kentucky State University where she majored in music. While attending college she met Raymond Mack who was a student at the University of Kentucky. After both graduated from college, the couple married on September 12, 1954, and a few years later Patricia gave birth to their only child, a baby girl, Raymali R. Mack.

The family moved to Indianapolis, IN where Patricia continued her education and earned her Masters in Music from Butler University. Patricia worked with the Indianapolis Public School system. The majority of her 43 years were spent at James Whitcomb Riley School #43 where she had the pleasure of not just teaching music but also letting the students know that each child was unique with a gift, a talent that should be valued, supported, and explored.

Patricia had a variety of interests during her lifetime aside from her music. Many were interests she shared with her husband. She was an avid tennis player in her younger years; she was also a licensed HAM radio operator.

Patricia believed that to make a difference in this world you had to make a commitment and participate. To that end, she belonged to several organizations.
