Patricia (Pat) Dean Masterson of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 19, at age 67. She was born on June 9, 1952 minutes after her twin sister Barbara Jean at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to the late Christine (Rach) Masterson and James (Jim) Masterson.
Pat attended Decatur Central High School where she competed in track before graduating in 1971. She worked full time while attending IUPUI. She graduated college in 1978 with a BS in nursing and went on to be a nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Community East Hospital. During her 20 years at Community East she assisted in countless deliveries until an injury forced her retirement from the profession she loved.
Pat was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. She was committed to the successful transition of her church in Indianapolis to its new location in Avon. She served regularly at the food pantry there as well as volunteered for numerous other church events to serve her Lord and the Faith Lutheran community.
Pat loved the springtime when all things returned to life. She was a meticulous gardener and loved being outdoors. She spent countless summers at the beach with her family. She loved nothing more than her family and being of service to them. She loved celebrating life and love. She loved to decorate for every holiday and truly gave each holiday detailed attention. She worked to keep the family close through gatherings, cards, and phone calls. She was a beloved sister and family member. Of all the people she loved, she loved her son the most. She lived to show him the faith she loved and to instill a commitment to God, family, and service. Second to God, Brian was the greatest love of her life until 2005 when the first of three grandsons (Maverick, Garrett and Hunter) became the center and focus of her life. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, family member, friend, and servant of Christ. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.
Patricia is survived by her son Brian Masterson, daughter-in-law Amanda (Mitchell) Masterson, three grandsons: Maverick, Garrett, and Hunter (Brownsburg, IN), uncle Robert Masterson (Spencer, IN), aunt Ellen (Masterson) Reynolds (Camby, IN); three sisters Barbara Harkleroad (Unionville, IN), Donna Moore (Plainfield, IN) , Janis Lee (Indianapolis, IN), brother-in-law Barry Harkleroad, and Michael Moore; Nieces: Azure Bunner, Allison Flores, Lynsey Criscone, and Christiana Harkleroad; Great- nieces: Ariel, Byanca, Cecylia, and Piper; great nephews: Wyatt, Ethan, and Luca; and numerous other family and friends.
Patricia was proceeded in death by her mother Christine (Rach) Masterson, father James (Jim) Dean Masterson, and brother-in-law Duane Lee and numerous other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan (Decatur location) on February 25, 2020. Public viewing will be from 11-1 pm with services to follow. Burial at Mooresville Cemetery (Mooresville, IN) will directly follow the funeral service. Flowers and condolences can be sent to Flanner and Buchanan (Decatur Branch). In lieu of flowers, charity donations can be made to her beloved Faith Lutheran Church of Avon, IN.
Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the American Legion Post 103 (Mooresville, IN) after the burial; all are welcome to attend.
