Patricia Combs

Patricia “Pat” Combs, a fiercely independent and no-nonsense woman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the age of 82. 

She was born on January 6, 1943 in Indianapolis to the late Bill and Doris Graves. Pat lived a quiet, simple life, but her presence was anything from ordinary. She was a woman of strong convictions, sharp wit, and an unapologetically feisty spirit. Pat lived her life as a testament to the beauty of staying true to oneself. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sisters, Wyllo,Mary, Sandra and Glenda; brothers Larry and Jerry.

Though her circle was small, her love for those within it ran deep. She fiercely protected and cherished her family, creating bonds that will be remembered and treasured. Her strength, honesty, and unwavering sense of self left an indelible mark on all who knew her. True to herself and, some might say, occasionally stubborn, she faced life on her own terms. 

Pat loved dogs and cherished her black lab Duke and more recently her lovable grand-pup Hurley, whom she insisted on buying her own special treats for every chance she had. 

Pat is survived by her devoted son, John Combs (Kara), her beloved grandchildren, Joshua Combs and Allie Gray (Satchel) and her great grandson, Brooks Gray, who will all carry forward her resilience, determination and love. She also leaves behind her sister, Judy Karnes; sister, Wanda Kelley (Joe); sister Debra Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Flanner Buchanan - Geist Funeral Center, located at 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46236.

Pat's funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Chaplain Rob Mifflin will officiate.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton, Indiana.
