Patricia “Pat” Redstone, 81, passed away on Oct. 17, 2022, in Carmel, Indiana. Pat will be remembered for her graciousness, love of words, friendly smile, fantastic laugh, quick wit, and upbeat personality. She loved gardening, dancing to music in her living room, reading a great book, needlework, eating wonderful food (especially chocolate and cheese), baking Christmas cookies, and solving crossword puzzles. Pat enjoyed travelling throughout her life and was fortunate to go on interesting trips with close relatives and good friends. Family was very important to Pat and she cherished her time being Grammy to her two granddaughters.
Pat was born in Evanston, Illinois, to Carroll and Cecile Blanchar on November 30, 1940. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs and Central Wisconsin before attending Walnut Hill School in Massachusetts for high school. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, earning a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. After college, Pat attended the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston to learn secretary skills to get a job. She started her career in Chicago at Arthur Andersen before moving to Indianapolis in 1968. During her 25-year career at Eli Lilly, she worked in various roles as a Systems Professional. Pat also earned her Master of Business Administration from Butler in 1974 while working full-time. In the late 1970s and through the 1980s, she helped restore a Victorian house in the Old Northside in Indianapolis with her then-husband Marion Redstone. In 1999, Pat moved to Noblesville and then moved to the Barrington of Carmel senior community for her final years. During her retirement, Pat particularly enjoyed dressing up to go out to eat with friends, taking Zumba classes, having quiet evenings in her apartment, and going on multiple cruises with her dear friend Bill Goodbar.
Pat will be greatly missed by her daughter Victoria Calhoon, son-in-law Barrett, and her granddaughters Vera and Edith. She is also survived by her sister Beverly (Bruce) Abbott, multiple nieces and nephews, and her best friend JoAnne (Steve) Alcorn. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and brother Thomas Blanchar.
