Patricia Ann Montgomery

Patricia Ann (Oberle) Montgomery, 83, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on October 25, 2018. She was born September 30, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Raymond and Ermadell (Howery) Oberle.

Pat attended Joyce Kilmer School #69 and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1953. Many of her school friends became lifelong friends who have continued to meet and socialize. After graduation, she worked in the insurance industry for several years.

On June 9, 1956, Pat married the late Robert (Bob) Montgomery in Indianapolis, IN. She and Bob were the beloved parents of three children and grandparents of four. Her children remember Pat as intelligent and witty, kind and caring, and very thoughtful toward others and their needs. She set an example of patience and generosity that her children strive to imitate.

Pat was a very active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. She loved her work with the Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) and her Bible Study groups. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees, co-wrote Asbury’s monthly newsletter The Crier, and helped organize summer day camps for children and youth for several years. More recently, Pat was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church in Greenfield, IN, where she continued working with the United Methodist Women, thoroughly enjoyed Bible Study, and helped with vacation Bible School.

Pat is survived by her daughters Lynn (John) Lazzara and Tracy (Randy) Bayly and son Mark (Kathy) Montgomery; granddaughter Alex Lazzara, grandsons Drew Lazzara, Bryan Bayly, and Tyler Bayly; sister Glenita Milburn; brother Ron Oberle; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Flanner and Buchanan / Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral service and burial beginning at 2:00 p.m.
