Pamela “Pam” Ann [Wagner] Johnson, 60, Indianapolis, a loving mother of three and wife of Leland “Skip” Johnson, passed away surrounded by her loved ones Saturday January 29, 2022.
She was born January 15, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN to Richard and Ella [Sutherlin] Wagner and was the second youngest of her siblings (Susan, Andrew, Janet, and Mathew). She attended St. Pius X grade school, Bishop Chatard High School and St. Mary of the Woods College.
After completing her schooling, she went on to have three boys: Shane, Grant and Drew [Skylar] Schmutte. She was a devoted and caring mother; dedicating herself to her sons’ many sporting and school activities — Pam did everything in her power to support her sons’ ambitions and help them achieve their goals.
In addition to being an fantastic mother, Pam dedicated over 10 years to public service as a procurement agent for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. She proudly served the state and contributed to the public safety of the community. She was best described by colleagues as fearless, loyal, and “an amazing person to be around.”
During her rare downtime, Pam enjoyed long weekends at her family’s lake house, where she could relax in the sunlight with a good book and great company. Her family meant the world to her and she loved spending time together to catch up, reminisce, and, of course, keep everyone on their toes. She had a quick wit and loved joking around with others.
Pam’s friends and family all knew that if you planned to spend more than a few hours with her, you could expect to eat a delicious, home cooked meal; a meal that inevitably yielded plenty of leftovers as she often complained about not knowing how to cook for any less than 5 people. Those closest to her knew that if you got hungry after the food was put away, you could always tap into her secret stash of Cheetos.
Pamela Johnson is preceded in death by her father, Richard Wagner. She is survived and missed by her husband Leland Johnson, her sons Shane, Grant, and Drew [Skylar] Schmutte, mother Ella Wagner, her siblings Susan Sapp, Janet [Robert] Eisenhut, Andrew [Judith] Wagner, Matthew [Tonya] Wagner, nieces and nephews Jennifer Sapp, Jessica [Benjamin] Wehner, Allison, Lauren, Jillian and Mackenna Eisenhut, and Scott and Anna Wagner. We take peace in knowing she has been reunited with her father in heaven.
