Otis L. Jeffers

95, of Indianapolis, passed away January 13, 2020. He was born on December 27, 1924 in Newberry, Indiana as the son of Otis G. and Rephel (Haywood) Jeffers.

After graduating high school, Otis was immediately drafted into the United States Army, where he served in the Pacific during World War II. Otis also served during the Korean War. After his service with the military Otis began working as a bricklayer. He joined the Union Bricklayer Local #4 IN/KY and received his 50 year membership. He also worked for Robert Haines Company for over 40 years as a bricklayer. During his spare time, Otis enjoyed working with his hands. He loved woodworking and has made several beautiful pieces over the years. He also enjoyed working outside. During the summer months he kept himself busy in the flower beds around the house as well as his garden. Otis would always grow several different vegetables in his garden each year, but the tomatoes and the hot peppers were always his favorite. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Otis is survived by his children: Patricia (Marty) Broderick, Carol (Wayne) Russell, Ramona (John) Merrill, Forrest (Shelia) Arthur; grandchildren: Rebecca Hagner, Robin (Andy) Hollcraft; great grandchildren: Crystal (Will) Perry, Andrew Hagner, Michael Ramsey, Lesley Kelle, Abby Hollcraft; great great grandchildren: Aubriella, Nova, Raelynn, Payton; sister in laws: Margorie Jeffers and Sue Jeffers.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith (Haines) Jeffers; his parents; brothers: Levon Jeffers and Eugene Jeffers.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020, from 11am-1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. There will be a service immediately following at 1pm, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and/or the American Lung Association.
