Orpha "Becky" Clingerman

Orpha “Becky” Clingerman, 81, of Carmel, IN, went to see the Lord on January 21, 2022.

She was born in Bowling Green, Indiana and raised in Carmel, graduating from Carmel High School. She passed at Green House Cottages in Carmel due to COVID complications.

In her younger years, she liked to go dancing at Indiana Beach and would go to Northern Beach to swim. She was a strong-willed, spit fire, and would freely share her point of view with anyone. She worked at the VA Medical Center for 27 years and worked for JCPenney for many years on the switchboard and other positions. She worked at multiple other jobs along the way. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Management a year before she retired.

She was a devout Christian and devoted herself to the church. She loved her animals. Orpha had a dog or two, but mainly loved the many cats she took care of. She was known lovingly as the ‘Cat Lady.’ Along with the many pets she loved, she also loved her family; she was the fourth of five children. She never married but loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Viola (Knox) Clingerman; brothers Malcolm (Kathryn) Clingerman, Veryl (Hazel) Clingerman, Donald Clingerman; and sister Phyllis (Hayden) Woods

Orpha is survived by Beulah Clingerman, and many loving nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Connor Suite, located at 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Friends and family are invited to gather from 10:30 am until time of service.
