Oldřich Jan Kolar, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on 10-12-2021. He was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia on 5-8-1929 to Oldřich Kolar and Milada (Koblížková) Kolar. Oldřich attended medical school at Masaryk University School of Medicine in Brno, after his residency, he joined the school’s faculty where he studied cerebral spinal fluid with an emphasis on multiple sclerosis research.
In 1966 he was invited to the Indiana University Medical School, Indianapolis where he continued with his research and clinical practice until his retirement in 1996 as a Professor Emeritus for Indiana University. Shortly after he opened a private practice and retired at 80 years of age in 2009. His research which contributed to numerous publications and presentations in his field led him around the world. His family will remember him for his care for animals and interest in nature, his dedication to his field and patients, and his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Madeleine Kolar, his daughter Vera Kirch, his son Oldrich Kolar, and his grandchildren Vera Alexandra Kirch, Olivia Kirch, Austin Kirch, Lauren Kolar, Kelly Kolar, and Olivia Kolar.
A memorial service is being planned.
