O. L. Caperton, 90 of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was born July 28, 1927 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to Ollie Lyn and Willie May Vinson Caperton. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War. He married his sweetheart, Hazel Jean Harvey almost 70 years ago. He retired from American Can Company after 26 years. He enjoyed working so he went to work at Cloverleaf Apartments where he worked at the Maintenance Supervisor until he retired there. After his retirement, he went back to help with the painting. O.L. was a very dedicated family man. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing a garden every summer, playing horseshoes, harmonica and guitar.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Hazel, children, Vickie (Melvin) Sims, Connie North, Debbie (Jeff) Dillon, Timmie (Tammy) Caperton and Matthew (Kelsay) Allen, sisters, Betty (Bo) Riley and Alice Hohn, grandchildren, Michonne, Shaelyn, Tabitha, Nathan, Daesha, Shasteen and Douglas, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Friends may visit with O.L.’s family from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, February 12, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. The service will be at 1 pm Tuesday at Floral Park. Contributions may be given in O.L.’s memory to Souls Harbor Assembly of God, 8434 IN-267, Plainfield, IN 46168.
