Norman E. Cochran, 81, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away October 26, 2018. He was born October 31, 1936 to Charles and Anna Cochran; the oldest of 5 children.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Norman made the brave choice to serve his country at 19 years old. On July 22, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for four years. Corporal Cochran received an honorable discharged on July 21, 1963 and received the Good Conduct Medal for his service. He was a lifetime member of the Wayne Township Fire Department and worked for the Chevrolet Division at GM for 45.5 years until his retirement in 2004. Norman was a devoted member of Crosspointe Baptist Church where he proudly served as a door greeter and usher. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life like fishing and traveling and spending time with his sweetheart, Betty. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to meet him.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna; wife, Julie Cochran. Surviving to cherish his memory are sweetheart of 14 years, Betty Bever; sons, Ron E. (Carolyn) Cochran, Rex R. Cochran, Steven R. (Dawn) Cochran; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, October 31 from 12-2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Services will take place at 2 PM. Norman will be laid to rest with full military honors immediately following the service at Floral Park Cemetery.
