Norma Sue Alpine

Norma Sue (Walden) Alpine, 84, was called home to the Lord on October 30^th, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 15, 1935 in Bloomington, IN to Charles Walden and Rosetta “Rose” (Neal) Walden. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School in 1953. Norma met her husband while attending church. They married September 1, 1957. They were longtime residents of Plainfield, IN, where they raised their family. She retired from AT&T where she worked for 28 years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Norma was an avid reader, loved playing cards, Atari, and enjoyed being on a bowling league with a few of her friends. Her family will remember her most for being affectionate, independent, and fun loving. She loved to greet others with a friendly “Howdy Do-dee!”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Walden; husband of 48 years, Harvey J. Alpine; daughter, Cynthia Rose Alpine (4 months); siblings, Martha Chambers, Joseph Walden, Marjorie Tincher, Mary Elmore, and Harriet Walden. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sister, Janet “Jan” Dalton; children, Kathryn (Roger) Roe, James Alpine, Beverly (Mark) Burzlaff, and Jennifer (Brad) Franklin; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bill) Lovett, Elizabeth Roe, Lindsey (Brian) Trivett, Kate Burzlaff, Steven (Cassie) Alpine, Megan Burzlaff, Nicholas Franklin, Samantha Franklin, and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

All are welcome to visit Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 12-2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Funeral Services will take place at 2 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
