Norma Rose Bless Jones Wren, 88, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019.
She was born on May 19, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Henry Ezra and Esta Gladys (Williams) Bless. Norma was a 1949 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and went to work with Indiana Bell. While working at Indiana Bell she was active in the Indiana Bell Choir and dedicated 10 years of service to the company before leaving employment to care for her growing family. Norma enjoyed travelling with family and friends. She also appreciated the beauty in flower gardening and the challenge of completing puzzles. Norma was a dedicated member of Cumberland Christian Church and a devoted volunteer with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. She was active in Girls Scouts and Brownies, and owned her own consignment shop, the Klothes Line, in Cumberland. Above all, Norma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Marsha (John) Canary, Linda (Tim) O’Mara, David (Kathy) Jones, Sandy (Mark) Sims, and Suzi Vitz; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Orville Bless, Helen Thompson and Mildred Hudson. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Charles E. Jones and Elton Wren; son, Steve Jones; and brothers, Harold and Art Bless.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 2pm in Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Norma will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army.
