Noah Lawson

October 29, 1996 — April 7, 2018

Fishers, IN

Noah Michael Lawson passed away suddenly on April 7, 2018. He was born in Indianapolis on his dad’s birthday October 29, 1996. He is survived by his parents: Mark and Sherri Lawson, siblings:  Spencer, Savannah, and Ian, grandparents:  Shirley Combs, Thelma and George Lawson and blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in passing by grandfathers Harold Combs and Howard Skirvin as well as his beloved dog, Macky.

Throughout his life, Noah kept a very small group of close friends. This is not a testament to a detriment in his character, but rather a highlight of the importance of intimacy to Noah. He did not consider himself an extrovert, but rather found sanctuary in those he could trust and trust well. He was not one taken with a frivolity in relationships, but preferred an interconnectedness that was truly lifelong. For the same reason, Noah enjoyed spending time with his family – forming bonds that became engrained in a profound and emotional connection. This love flourished through his love of playing games and the time he spent with his family. Whether it was his playing his favorite games (Overwatch, Borderlands, and Persona 5) with his siblings, or, attending a weekly family Trivia Night out, Noah always made time for his family. Similarly, he had an affinity with and love for his pets – none stronger than his love for his Golden Retriever Macky.

He also loved to travel. This was another activity he spent with his family. While in total Noah visited 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada, his favorite places included the serenity of the Redwoods of California, Yellowstone National Park, and Northern Michigan.

Noah was also largely invested in his academics. As a junior at IUPUI, Noah pursued a Degree and eventual career in Computer Science. Though he was still a college student, he did make one leap of faith into the real world by way of an internship at Navient. He planned, but never got the opportunity to return to this summer internship for the experience he’d eventually need to take flight into a post-academia life. And although Computer Science was a scholarly passion, Noah also enjoyed reading and writing. Amongst many authors and many books, his favorite was Stephen King and his novel The Stand. Similarly, Noah had enjoyed writing and had been practicing since his senior year of high school. He completed many projects, his proudest and final being his magnum opus; a 22 part episodic space opera titled Star Jam.

Finally, in his life, he was always attracted to the beauty of great creativity and the cultivation of true emotion. He was captivated by the storylines of Breaking Bad and Cowboy Bebop, as well as the true artistic prowess of  La La Land, Your Name, A Silent Voice, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Of all things Noah tried to capture in his story, it was the importance of sacrifice and the beauty of knowledge.
