Nita Mae Lesburg

Nita Mae (Rotes) Lesburg, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on May 8, 2018.  She was born in West Orange, CA on March 8, 1924 to the late Lewis J. and Gretchen (Ashley) Rotes.  She graduated from Sarasota High School and served a long career as a devoted Army Wife and mother living in Germany, Taiwan, New Jersey and Indianapolis.  She worked as an operator with Western Union in Philadelphia during WWII and managed the childcare center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison for several years during the late to mid-60’s.  Nita was known for her creative nature.  She was craft-oriented, and most known for her Apple Dolls, which she marketed at various gift shops in Indianapolis.

Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Lieutenant Colonel William B. Lesburg in 1990; her parents and four siblings.  She is survived by her children: William B. “Bill” Lesburg, Jr, Robert A. “Bob” Lesburg (Ellen), Leslie Sellery (Cliff) and Dawn Nita Carr (Larry); 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Nita will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery next to her late husband, William.
