Nicholas Ross Tweedy, born November 3, 1987, passed away unexpectedly November 30, 2017 at the home of his step-father Michael Phillips in Indianapolis.

Nicholas graduated from Park Tudor High School in 2005, attended IUPUI and Ithaca College, and was majoring in Operations and International Studies through Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business at the time of his death.

Nicholas joined the US Army in June of 2008. He completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and received further training at Redstone Arsenal Base in Huntsville Alabama. Ultimately he was assigned to Fort Hood Texas, where he served as a Land Combat Electronic Missile System Repairer. While at Fort Hood, Nick was selected by his Battalion Commander to be the youngest member of a 4 person team which controlled the daily operations of a unit of 2,000 personnel. He became a Squad Leader, supervising three squads of 6 to 10 personnel each over time in service.

Also, while at Fort Hood, Nicholas became one of only 6 active-duty soldiers in the country to be nominated, and subsequently accepted to, the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also became the first soldier ever at Fort Hood to receive a full scholarship from the Commanding General of Fort Hood to attend the ROTC program at Cornell University.

Nicholas received an Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

At the time of his passing, Nicholas was employed as a Warehouse Supervisor  by AmerisourceBergen, a pharmaceutical distribution company which was ranked 11th on the Fortune 500 List for 2016.

Nicholas enjoyed music, the Indianapolis Colts, fantasy football, and his friends, who knew him as a quiet but gentle and generous friend to them, always available to listen and lend a hand.

Nicholas is survived by his parents, Jay F. Tweedy , Indianapolis, and Mona (Johnson) Tweedy, Jacksonville Florida, his grandparents Pat and Linda Johnson, Pendleton, Bernice Tweedy, Knightstown, and 17 cousins.

Showing will be at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, from 4:00 to 8:00 Wednesday December 6. The following day,  Thursday December 7, services will be held at the same location , at 11:00 A.M., with burial to follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown IN.
