Nelson C. Peredo

August 5, 1945 — October 22, 2022

New Palestine, Indiana

Nelson C. Peredo, 77, of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was born on August 5, 1945, in Bolivia, to parents, Rene and Maria Luisa (Cassab) Peredo.

Nelson came to Indiana in the mid 1960’s to join his brother, Edgar. Nelson made Indiana his home and even became a U.S. citizen. Nelson came in the spirit of his sense of experiencing new adventures and exploring new opportunities. In his first years in Indianapolis, Nelson worked as a tool and dye maker for Buehler Corporation. In his position at Buehler, he had the opportunity to make a piece that was chosen to be used on the Lunar Rover. Thus, in a manner of speaking Nelson was able to roam the moon and to this day his handiwork is still on the moon. As Nelson moved on to work at Firestone from where he retired, he never missed an opportunity to let the rubber hit the road. His roaming spirit on Earth had Nelson make use of a two wheeled vehicle, the motorcycle. Nelson was able to travel all through North America even modifying a 750 Honda to ride to Alaska when most roads were still gravel. Nelson did not limit his travels to North America. He explored Central and South America, riding from Indianapolis, Indiana to Cochabamba, Bolivia prior to the completion of the Pan-American Highway. Nelson did not let an ocean deter his roaming spirit. He shipped a BMW to Europe and conquered that Continent. Nelson was able to meet many people, experience many cultures, and see the world through his visor as he toured on his motorcycle. Of all the wonderful and unique adventures he experienced, his most cherished experience was being a father to Nelsie. Nelson was also very much a father figure to Malusa and Anthony as well as a grandfather figure to Marisa and Roy. Nelson was a cherished son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Nelson is currently on his next great adventure accompanied by Nelsie, his brothers, and his parents.

Nelson is survived by his niece, Malusa Peredo; nephew, Anthony (Amanda) Peredo; great niece, Marisa Peredo; great nephew, Roy Peredo; nieces: Dunia, Patricia, Sheri, Cindy, Kristi, and Linda; nephew Mike; sisters-in-law: Martha, Sandy, and Sharon; several great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Rene and Maria Luisa Peredo; son, Nelson Peredo II; brothers, Edgar and Fernando Peredo; sister-in-law Patty (Abel) Peredo; nephew, Roy Peredo; brothers-in-law: Jay, Jack, and Roy “Butch” Abel; Special parental figures, Roy and Laverne Abel.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Washington Park East Cemetery – 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial contributions in his name to donor’s favorite charity. Another suggestion is that you take your loved ones to explore a new place for an adventure of your own making. As you enjoy your adventure, let Nelson know that was for him.
