Nancy Sue Gillett

Nancy Sue (Ensign) Gillett, 73, of Carmel, IN, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018.  Nancy was born April 15, 1944, in Normal, IL, to the late Preston Marshall and Alice Louise Ensign, also of Normal, IL.  Nancy was a beautician for over 40 years in Carmel, IN.  She was the former owner of The Hair Studio and spent many years at Xanadu, both of which were located in Merchant’s Square, and lastly as a beautician at Makayla Clark’s Salon and Spa on Rangeline Rd.

She was known for her common sense, sharp wit, sense of humor, and good advice.  She was spunky and full of life.  She was a hot air balloon pilot and an avid gardener.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who called her Nana, and great-granddaughter, who knew her as Gigi.  She also loved spending time with her dog, Elliott, and with her friends.

A visitation is planned for Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to start at 3:00 p.m., at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.  Immediately following the service, a celebration of life reception will be held at Wolfies Grill in Carmel.

Nancy leaves behind her husband, Perry Jay Gillett of Carmel; daughter, Lara Arnett-Wickliff of Indianapolis; son, Mike (Ashley) Arnett of Carmel; step-daughter, Mercedes Gillett, of Normal, IL; grandchildren; Rachel Arnett of Indianapolis, Olivia Bischoff and James Bischoff of Carmel, Ryan (Riley) Arnett of Indianapolis; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Shaffer-Arnett of Fortville;  brother, Jim Ensign of Normal, IL;  sisters, Judy (Joel) Brooks of Mesa, AZ, and Linda (Bob) Hageman of Normal, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Zachary Brown, and a sister, Carol (Ronald) Barnhart.
