Nancy Jane Lott, 85, beloved mother and “Nia” unexpectedly went home to be with her lord and savior on September 20, 2024. Although currently residing in Westfield, Indiana, Nancy was a longtime resident of Brownsburg, Indiana.
Nancy was born in Washington, Indiana, on February 19, 1939 to the late Leslie and Mildred Meade. Nancy attended Indiana State University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Education (1961) and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Nancy went on to attend Indiana University Bloomington where she received her Master of Science in Education. Nancy taught business education for 42 years, retiring from Indianapolis Public Schools in 2003. Nancy spent the majority of her career as the Business Department Head of Northwest High School in Indianapolis.
Nancy married the love of her life, Robert Lott, on September 27, 1974, and they had one daughter, Leslie. Nancy was a loving and devoted mother to Leslie and “Nia” to her three grandchildren who she adored. Nancy loved nothing more in the entire world than spending time with her grandchildren. Nancy was a true animal lover, avid reader, and card player. She loved to cook, travel, feed the birds, and garden.
Nancy was a member of Tri Kappa (Brownsburg chapter), the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Chi Omega. She was a previous member of Speedway Christian Church, Brownsburg United Methodist Church, and St Lukes United Methodist Church.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Lott, her parents, Leslie and Mildred Meade, and her brothers, Robert and Jack Meade. Nancy is survived by her daughter Leslie Lott Messmer (Kevin) her three grandchildren (Mason, Carson, and Sydney Messmer) and several nieces, a nephew, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28th at Carmel United Methodist Church (621 S Rangeline Rd, Carmel, IN 46032) with calling from 10 am – 12pm and funeral services to follow at the church beginning at 12pm.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Tunnels to Towers Foundation or the Hamilton County Humane Society.
