Nancy Jo Kaufman Capron, 79, Indianapolis, slipped quietly into eternal rest at her home on Wednesday October 10th. She was born in Princeton, IL October 28th, 1938 to the late Joseph and Isabella (Lauritzen) Kaufman. She was proceeded in death by her grandson Robert Joseph (RJ) Mata. She is survived by her husband of 57 years James J Capron, son Kyle J. Capron (Thresa) of Fishers, IN and daughter Gretchen Capron Mata (Bob) of Houston, TX., brother William Kaufman (Judy) of Orlando Florida, and her two grandchildren Dmitry Capron and Jessica Mata.
She was born and raised in Princeton, Il. Upon graduation from high school she moved to Evanston, Il where she met her husband. They moved from Foxboro, MA to Indianapolis in 1966. Nancy always said the happiest day of her life was when the moving van left Massachusetts.
Nancy worked at John Strange School and later at the central library office of Washington Township Schools. She was a long-time member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was leader of the Fellowship ministry and readily volunteered with cooking and helping in the kitchen for various events. She spent many hours volunteering at Lutheran Child and Family Services Sharing Place and organized and taught nutrition classes. She loved to volunteer with the 500 Festival education program and also at the FAA convention where she got to interact with young people from all over the country.
Nancy enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially at Christmas time when she would prepare plates of cookies, breads, and candy to be delivered to her friends. She loved spending time at Walt Disney World with her family.
A calling will be held on Sunday October 14th from 2-6 PM with a funeral service at 10 AM on Monday October 15th. Both will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 526 E 52nd Street Indianapolis, IN.
