Nancy Kay Denny, 86, of Shelbyville passed away November 4, 2024. She was born August 2, 1938, in Middletown, Indiana, the daughter of the late John and Lena Mae (Buss) Real. She married Melvin Denny on September 12th, 1964, who preceded her in passing on November 11th, 1996.
Nancy enjoyed bowling, traveling, and raising her boys until Chris became old enough to drive. She then embarked on a long and fulfilling career in retail, working at Lazarus, and later retired from Macy’s. She had a deep love for animals and was passionate about supporting local animal shelters. Later in life, she loved talking with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren weekly.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Denny, and his wife, Debbie Applegate; stepson, Jon Denny; daughter-in-law, Pat Denny; five grandchildren, Allison, Jill, and Mark Denny, Tammy and Christi Muterspaugh; her sister, Diana Dunham, and her husband, Pat; and her brother, David Real, and his wife, Jeanie. She was preceded in passing by two sons, Ron and Tom Muterspaugh; stepson, David Denny; stepdaughter, Jean Vanderburg; granddaughter, Misti; and two brothers, Larry and Jerry Real.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm through 3:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Shelbyville Animal Shelter.
