Nancy Ann Cole

October 12, 1939 — November 5, 2024

Indianapolis, IN

Nancy A. (Wilson) Cole, 85, died peacefully at her home in Indianapolis on November 5, 2024, from complications of a stroke. She was born on October 12, 1939, in Warren County, Indiana, to Kenneth B. and Geneva Wilson.

Nancy was married for 63 years to Jim Cole, who passed away in 2021. As the story goes, they had been sweethearts since third grade, when Jim tried to impress her by chewing an entire pack of bubble gum. Jim and Nancy were avid gardeners and birders, and enjoyed games and puzzles of all kinds, especially marathon euchre tournaments at family gatherings.

After raising four wonderful children, Nancy took up a 30+ year career as a tax preparer, auditor, and educator for H&R Block, rising through the ranks and retiring only last year. Jim and Nancy moved to Indianapolis from West Lafayette in the early 1990’s, to enjoy city life and visits from family.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Jim Cole, an infant son James, brother Don Wilson, and son-in-law Lyle McGeoch. She will be sorely missed by her sister Cindy Wilson; four children and their spouses, Cathy McGeoch, Randy Cole and Mike Broderick, Lisa and Mark Harmison, and Jennifer Shook and Walter Groot; five grandchildren, Tigon, Mike, Ian, Alex, and Ethan; six great-grandchildren Riorden, Mirela, Weston, Rigel, Kelvin, and Lydia; and granddog Tucson.

A private memorial service for Nancy and Jim will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the Flanner Buchanan online Guestbook. Please consider making a donation to a favorite charity in honor of Nancy and Jim Cole.
