Nancy Ann Brown, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was born on February 16, 1934 in Richmond, IN to Harold F. Brown and Evelyn M. Brown. She graduated from Richmond High School. She continued her studies at Indiana University, graduating with a B.S and Masters Degree in Education. Nancy moved to Indianapolis after graduation to teach. It was in Indianapolis where she met her future husband, Clarence “Jack” Brown. They lived in the same apartment complex and Jack would perform small jobs and repairs for Nancy and her roommates in exchange for meals. Nancy and Jack married December 27, 1959 and moved to Peoria, IL where Nancy continued her teaching career. Eventually, Nancy and Jack moved to Mooresville, IN where both taught in the school system there. They were a package deal as Jack coached the Mooresville Pioneers and Nancy taught at the elementary school. They both later moved again to Indianapolis and started a family with their first born and son, David and soon after their daughter, Amy. Nancy returned to teaching while in Indianapolis where she taught in Wayne Township at both the 2nd and 6th grade levels. She later retired in May 1995 in anticipation of her grandson, Sean. Nancy never stopped educating as she served in so many different educational organizations during retirement including School on Wheels and the HOSTS program. She loved everything IU and enjoyed going to as many of their sporting events as she and Jack could go to. Nancy and Jack both loved to travel and took many special trips both as a couple and with their family. She was an avid reader and never missed her grandson’s sporting events as long as she was physically able to go. Nancy will be remembered as someone with the kindest heart and known for her ability to speak to any and everyone. She made everyone she came across feel seen and cared for. Her love for others will never be forgotten and neither will she. Nancy was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Indianapolis. She is survived by her son, David Brown; her daughter, Amy Boswell; and her grandson, Sean Boswell. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clarence “Jack” Brown.
