Nance Lynn Carlson, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25th, 2017 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Nance was an accomplished and talented artist in a variety of media, including pen and ink, oil paint, and interior décor, and was the illustrator for a series of children’s books. When not involved in her art, Nance worked in a number of professions over the years, including CAD & graphic design, commercial printing, and real property transactions for the Assessor’s Office. Nance would be well remembered as a colorful and brilliant soul who was a passionate advocate for peace, equality, and understanding among all people. She strove to leave a better world for her grandchildren and yours.
Nance was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Thompson; parents, Paul E. and Thelma Reinken; and son, Gabriel Carlson. Nance is survived by her brothers, Paul A. (Carol) Reinken and Doug Reinken; sons, Drew (Ali) Carlson and Nick (Jaime) Carlson; granddaughters, Jade Carlson and Kathryn Carlson; grandson, William Carlson; nephews, Paul E. and Clay Reinken; and niece, Margaret Reinken.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nance’s honor to the Herron School of Art and Design or the Indianapolis Art Center. A memorial celebration and open house for Nance will be held at her home, 6031 Garver Rd., Indianapolis, on Saturday, July 1st beginning at 3p.m.
