Myrtle Jean Roark, 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones on September 30, 2019. She was born September 21, 1940 in Pineville, Kentucky to Bob and Hazel Helton; she was one of seven children.
Myrtle retired from General Motors in 1992 where she worked faithfully as an inspector for 30 years. She was a wonderful, strong willed woman who loved gardening, quilting and reading, especially Danielle Steele. She adored her family and was very involved in the lives of her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to meet her; she was truly one of a kind.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Hazel; children, Noah Helton, Irene Barker, and Freda Goode (the late Billie Goode). Surviving to cherish her memory are daughters, Pamela Sue (David) Bryant and Michelle R. (Jason) Sluss; grandchildren, David W. Bryant Jr, Devin E. Bryant (Meredith), Ethan R. Sluss and Ficher Sluss; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bryant and Charlotte Bryant; siblings, Jerry (Rita) Helton, Mildred (Jack) Halcomb, Richard (Linda) Helton, brother-in-law, Jerry Barker; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
