Myrlene Jo Altes

Myrlene Jo Altes, 81 of Carmel, passed away on Monday January 18, 2021. She was born on July 16, 1939 in Indianapolis to the late Wallace and Francis Smith. Myrlene dedicated her life to God and giving to those in need. She spent much of her free time feeding the poor and helping others get back on their feet. Myrlene loved children, after raising six of her own, she went on to teach preschool and Sunday school. She loved to garden, always growing the most beautiful flowers.

Myrlene is survived by her loving husband of nearly 65 years George F. Altes; daughters, Rebecca Gaied, Debra Haynes, and Jan Altes; sons, James, Paul, and George Altes; grandchildren, Stacey Eaton, Joshua Eaton, Joseph Powell, Aja Powell, Latasha Powell, Melissa Graves, Peggy Altes, James Altes, Angelia Altes, David Haynes, Daniel Haynes, Tommy Woods Jr., and Ashley Carver. She is preceded in passing by her daughter, Peggy Sue Altes; and grandson, James Powell.
