Mona Lee Nemecek

Mona Lee Nemecek, born June 17, 1951 joined The Force on October 31, 2017. Born in Valparaiso, IN to Morris and Miriam Ringel, she was the eldest of 5 siblings. Mona was an excellent & gifted student at School 70, graduated from Shortridge High School with an academic diploma and continued her education at IUPUI where she earned her B.S. in Geology. While studying for her degree Mona was employed at the Indiana State Library and afterwards worked for the AMAX Coal Co. as a Petroleum Geologist. She retired on June 30, 2017 from the State of Indiana where she was employed as Assistant Director of the Technical Service Section in the Division of Oil & Gas.

Mona was an avid reader and, in particular, loved mysteries, Star Wars and Harry Potter. She was preceded in death by daughter Melissa Cheryl. Mona is survived by her husband Thomas, brother Morris Jr., sisters Mary Kelley (Michael), Martha and Margie, niece Evanne Abel (Andrew), 2 great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 5th from 4-8pm, with funeral services at 10am on Monday, both at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Riley Children’s Hospital of Indianapolis.
