Miriam “Mims” C. Pirtle, 84 of Indianapolis, passed away on July 12, 2019. She was born on October 5, 1934 to the late Miriam and Harry Hoerger.
Mims most beloved past time was watching her grandson, Blair, play golf. In addition to watching golf, she enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, her koi pond, and spending time with family and friends. She had an infectious laugh and drew people to her.
Mims graduated from Speedway High School in 1953. She was a member of Speedway Christian Church for 84 years where she sang in the choir and served on many committees. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Over 32 years of employment for Speedway Schools, she served in various capacities including Director of Food Services.
She was preceded in passing by her son, Michael Donald Pirtle; her brothers, Robert and Jack Hoerger; her sisters-in law, Peg, Anna, and Polly; along with her brother-in-law, Robert Devlin.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Donald R. Pirtle; her children, Miriam Jane Webb (David) and Susan Ann Pirtle; grandsons, Blair Austin Webb (Jessica) and Thomas David Webb (Vy); great grandson, Warren Leo Webb; brothers, Fred and Richard (Jan) Hoerger; and sister-in-law, Patricia Devlin, along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to Speedway Christian Church – Renovation Fund.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Speedway Christian Church, 5110 W 14th St., from 1-4PM, with the service immediately following at 4PM.
