Milford (Jack) Schroeder passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born on a farm near Olpe, Kansas on July 6, 1927. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie and Benjamin, his first wife, Marguerite; son, Olaf; and second wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his brother, Darrell (Marjorie); niece, Angela (Charles) Ford; great niece and nephew, Lauren and Michael Ford; nephew, Stephen Schroeder (Deborah); and son-like-friend, Kevin Nassiri—plus his family. Jack retired as Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army after 24 years, having served in WWII and Vietnam, after which he was awarded the bronze star. He then worked for the Army Reserve at Fort Harrison for 23 years. Jack has a keen interest in U.S. Civil War history, especially military battles. He visited numerous battle sites and accumulated many books and artifacts. Jack cared for all animals and provided a loving home for many throughout the years. He enjoyed gardening and produced good crops. He enjoyed bridge with many good friends. He had a special sense of humor and enjoyed playing tricks on some friends. A memorial service will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
