Miles Li’Ran Jones was granted his angel wings on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Miles was born on April 19, 2003, in St. Louis, MO. Miles was a senior at Westfield-Washington High School (Westfield, IN) – Class of 2021.
He was musically inclined, lettered in concert band playing the trumpet. Being named after the great Miles Davis. He graced us with his beautiful singing voice, which was passed down from a musically talented family. He found comfort in painting, drawing, and ceramics, which are proudly displayed in his home.
Miles enjoyed exploring historical monuments, deep-sea fishing, Pacers games, and discovering the best milkshake shops in Indy with his Dad.
His mom shared with him the beauty of nature through hiking, magnet fishing, and bonfires by their lake. During our playful times, the two created the art of “slurbing”, always keeping their conversations deep, educational but light-hearted.
Miles looked to Kayla as not only a big sister but a second mom. The two shared a unique bond that took them on many adventures together. Their love of music brought them to many concerts all over the United States. The two enjoyed laser tag, sharing memes, and long road trips. Wherever Kayla and friends were, Miles was soon to follow.
Miles and Corbin had a brotherly bond that included playing video games. The two had a passion for collecting one of a kind sneakers. Their shared love of exotic cars strengthened their love for each other by attending car shows. By the age of three, Miles could name the make and model of just about every car, domestic and exotic.
One of his greatest loves was traveling. In his short but full life, Miles was fortunate to tour five countries and visit 18 states throughout the US. He explored Amsterdam while in the Netherlands. He traveled 22 hours on a plane to tour and volunteer in Johannesburg, South Africa. Miles was passionate about helping less fortunate children. His mission was to collect clothing items and shoes to donate to an orphanage. He went swimming with whale sharks in the Philippines, and he explored the streets of Hong Kong eating exotic cuisines. He didn’t leave Tijuana, Mexico, empty-handed.
Miles was an impeccable dresser. He was clean cut with a unique collection of tennis shoes and had an eccentric taste in clothing. Miles was one-of-kind. He was a jokester and loved pulling pranks on family and friends. With Miles’ passing, we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated; although we will miss him every day, he will always remain forever in our hearts. We all were able to create beautiful memories, and it has been a privilege to know Miles throughout his 17 years on this earth.
Miles is survived by his loving parents Kenneth R Jones Jr and Lisa Porter-Jones, of Carmel, IN; sister, Kayla Porter of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Corbin Jones of Carmel, IN.
