Mildred Irene Longworth

Mildred Irene Johnson Longworth, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on Saturday, December 3, 2016. She was born on December 26, 1934 in Harlan County, KY to Charles Edward Johnson, Sr. and Polly Mae Johnson. Irene Married Hershel Longworth on October 26, 1950. She worked at Production Printing for many years and was very active in the Pressmans Union, Local 17. She was also a member of the Yancey Baptist Church. Irene loved animals and enjoyed raising rabbits, birds and Papillion puppies at various times in her life. She will be missed by her loving family, husband Hershel; children, Benny Shannon Longworth, Sr., Mary Katherine Longworth, Judith Ann (Thomas) Kittinger, Debra Lynn (Daniel) Ward, Tammy Jenine Troxell, David Hershel Longworth and Benny Shannon Longworth, Jr. Irene is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Joyce Charlene Shannon, Charles Edward Johnson, Jr., Pearl Lee Johnson, Larry Alan Johnson; son, Hershel David Longworth; and grandson, Kenny Ryan Ward. Funeral services for Mrs. Longworth will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. Visitation will be held 3 hours prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
