Mildred G. Najmon, 96 of Avon, passed away on January 17, 2019. She was born on April 12, 1922 in Martinsville, IL to the late William and Bessie Gallatin.
She was a 1940 graduate of Martinsville High School. During WWII, she worked at Allison Engine Company as a test operator on the Allison V1710 aircraft engine and on the Allison J33 jet engine. Mildred played the organ for various churches and other organizations in Indianapolis, often as a volunteer. She was a homemaker most of her 62 years of marriage. She was a member of the Municipal Band playing the Saxophone. Mildred also worked on contract for the Pipe Organ Company. She was a drapery seamstress for Rosemarie Banks, and eventually owned her own business as a seamstress, Millie’s Skirts. Mildred was a member of North Liberty Christian Church.
She is survived by her sons; Mark (Cathy), Gary (Kathy), Ralph (Susan), and Carl; 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Najmon; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Visitation for Mrs. Najmon will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Baird Cemetery in Martinsville, Illinois.
Memorial contributions may be given to the North Liberty Christian Church.
