Mildred E. Greene

Mildred E. Greene passed away peacefully on August 25, 2019. She lived 100 years, 7 months and 16 days. A remarkable period of time for anyone.

Mildred was born on January 9th, 1919 in Bridgeport, Illinois to Joseph Frederick Cullison and Minta Olive (Waggoner) Cullison.

She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1936, and continued her education at the University of Illinois. She left college early to move back home to help support her mother after her father passed away.

She worked as a teacher in a one room school house before moving to New Jersey in World War II to become the Head Dietician at a large factory. She met her husband, Robert R. Greene, in New Jersey during the war. They were married on March 3, 1946 in Sumner, Illinois. Greg, their son, was born in 1950.
Mildred and Robert had their 68th wedding anniversary in 2014. Mildred and Robert were members of Seventh and Eight Christian Church for over 50 years.

Mildred continued teaching after she was married and became a full time homemaker after her son was born. Mildred enjoyed entertaining her friends and family, played golf for years, and loved to play Bridge.

Mildred was survived by her son Greg (Pam); her brother Harold (Joyce) and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ralph, Arthur, and Robert Cullison and her sisters Nellie Cullison and Bernice Wright.

Family and Friends may call Monday, September 9, 2019 from
11:30 -12:30 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive. Funeral Service will follow at
12:30 p.m. Burial will be held at Lincoln Memory Gardens.
