Michael Wayne Childress

Michael (Mike) Wayne Childress of Indianapolis passed away November 24, 2021 at the age of 66. He was born August 2, 1955 in Indianapolis to James and Jean Childress. Michael was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School Class of 1973 and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Indianapolis.  He spent the latter part of his career as a delivery driver for Indiana Oxygen and Advance Auto. He enjoyed learning about Native American history and researching his family tree as well as giving tours of the historic Hannah house. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his two sons Shaun Childress (Colette) and Jeremy Childress; his mother Jean Childress; his 4 grandchildren (Gavin, Jaxon, Kolten, and Olivia Childress); brother Kevin (Twila) Childress and sister Cynthia (Don) Speaks; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father James Childress. A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, December 6 from 12-2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. A Graveside Service will begin at 2 PM in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
